Review
Mackenzie or "Mac Elliot" is a successful wedding photographer working with her three best friends, Parker, Laurel, and Elliot, at their own business called "Vows." After an odd encounter with one of her clients brothers, named Carter Maguire, Mac is nearly head-over-heels. On the contrary Carter is definitely not her type, an English teacher at their high school alma mater. Her reluctance to take her fling with Carter a little further poses the question, "What's holding her back?" For those who have read a Nicholas Sparks book, this one is very similar in plot. An easy and quick read, this book is relatively good. Towards the end, the book started to become dull, but had one worthy plot twist towards the end to keep you from yawning. As harsh as that may sound this was overall a good book and worth reading, especially if you have an empty weekend. Nicholas Sparks fans rejoice! This one has got everything you're looking for except this hunky guy lives in Connecticut, not North Carolina.
Analysis of Style
Nora Roberts implements her individual voice, and a contemporary tone to show her style in Vision in White.
By integrating abbrieviations such as, "FOB" and "MOH"(Roberts 9), Nora Roberts uses her own take on the lingo actual wedding planners use. This unique touch makes the book feel the reader is personally apart of the story. Another personal touch to the story is the frequent use of inappropriate language which shows how Roberts holds nothing back in her writing in order for the reader to understand the whole effect of a situation.
The contemporary tone is seen throughout the book in the way Roberts blends "paranormal and fantasy elements" in her "thoroughly charming contemporary romance."(Charles) Her "realistically complicated characters" (charles) adds to the books sophisticated tone. This polished tone throughout the book, which creates a more formal setting, fits the professionalism of the wedding company depicted in the book.
